The Supreme People’s Court Attached Great Importance to Deputy’s Proposal and Letter for Acceptance of Proposal Was Handed to the Deputy Personally

On March 15, Prof. Weiyun SHI, a deputy to the National People’s Congress,  director and secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong Eye Institute, president of Shandong Eye Hospital, received a reply letter from the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China. The letter named A Reply on the Proposal by Deputy Weiyun SHI of Shandong Delegation says:

Deputy Weiyun SHI, thank you for your concern and support for the work of People’s Court. Your suggestion on the revision of the characters in the Work report of the Supreme People’s Court is of great importance to the improvement of the content of the Report and the work of the People’s Court. We have conducted a research seriously and decided to adopt your suggestion.

While examining the 2018 Work Report of the Supreme People’s Court delivered by Qiang Zhou, the president of the Supreme People's Court, at the second meeting of the first session of the 13th National People's Congress, deputy Weiyun SHI believed that if “introduce suggestions in conjunction with departments concerned to maintain the normal medical order, punish violent crimes that hurt medical staff in accordance with laws, protect the lawful rights and interests of patients and promote the establishment of a harmonious doctor-patient relationship” could be revised to “introduce suggestions in conjunction with departments concerned to maintain the normal medical order, punish violent crimes that hurt medical staff in accordance with laws, protect the lawful rights and interests of medical staff and patients and promote the establishment of a harmonious doctor-patient relationship”, the determination of the supreme court to punish violent crimes that hurt medical staff according to laws and to maintain a harmonious doctor-patient relationship and the great efforts that have been made could be demonstrated more comprehensively.

Deputy SHI’s suggestion has received great attention from the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China and has been adopted by the Supreme People’s Court after thorough study. An official of the Supreme People’s Court delivered the Letter for Acceptance of Proposal to deputy SHI personally and expressed sincere thanks to him.

Although Weiyun SHI is an ordinary deputy, the Supreme People’s Court adopted his suggestion, which fully showed the respects from the supreme court on public opinions and the concerns to all the medical staff. The Supreme People’s Court has fulfilled the promises of “listening to and following good advice as water flows downward” and “showing solicitude for people”.

As a representative of the medical profession, deputy SHI suggested adding “protect the lawful rights and interests of medical staff” to the Work Report of the Supreme People’s Court on behalf of medical staff, which is important for the effective control of the actions that disrupt normal orders in hospitals and damage the lawful rights and interests of medical staff and has profound influences on the promotion of medical civilization.
