Professor Hua GAO of Shandong Eye Hospital selected as “Chinese Excellent Ophthalmologist”

The “12th Annual Meeting of the Ophthalmologists Society of Chinese Medical Doctor Association” sponsored by the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the Ophthalmologists Society of Chinese Medical Doctor Association was successfully held in Chongqing from June 28 to July 1, 2018.

All the committee members elected 12 ophthalmologists from thousands of ophthalmologists across the country by voting as the “Chinese Excellent Ophthalmologists of 2018”. The successful candidates were commended at the meeting. Professor Hua GAO from Shandong Eye Hospital received the award with an overwhelming majority of votes.

In 2010, the Ophthalmologists Society of Chinese Medical Doctor Association selected the first batch of Chinese excellent ophthalmologists, aiming to encourage all the ophthalmologists around the country to work harder and to arouse their enthusiasm and creativity to promote the development and prosperity of ophthalmology in China. The candidates shall be democratically voted by the Ophthalmologists Society under the principles of openness, fairness and impartiality, and only the candidates who get 1/2 or more of the total votes are eligible to be successful candidates. The excellent ophthalmologist award is intended to select the outstanding ophthalmologists in China and honor them for their prominent contributions on prevention and treatment of eye diseases, academic research, blindness prevention and treatment, self-discipline and rights protection, especially the outstanding work achievements they have made at the grass-roots level.
